António Félix da Costa secured his second Formula E world title at the ExCeL London finale, with Jake Dennis winning Race 1 and the new champion taking Race 2 to cap a Jaguar powered season.
The ExCeL London circuit is part indoor, part outdoor, and entirely unforgiving of a misplaced wheel. The surface change between the arena section and the dockside exit is the defining technical challenge of the weekend, and a championship that runs to the final round here is decided by which driver can switch tyre temperature on and off across that boundary.
Race 1 belonged to Jake Dennis on home ground. The McLaren driver converted a clean start into a controlled victory, managing his Attack Mode windows around the indoor section where overtaking is effectively impossible. Da Costa finished second to extend his points lead and put one hand on the trophy, with Sam Bird third to give McLaren a double podium.
Race 2 was the championship decider. Da Costa needed only a finish ahead of Dennis to seal the title, but he raced for the win instead, taking the lead through the second Attack Mode activation and holding it through a late safety car restart. Dennis completed the podium in third, enough to confirm McLaren the teams title, while Maximilian Günther second kept Maserati in the constructors fight.
The title is da Costa's second in Formula E and the first for Jaguar TCS Racing since the powertrain regulations were reshaped for Season 11. The championship was built on consistency across the mid season flyaways, where the Jaguar powertrain's efficiency in race mode allowed the Portuguese driver to score in every round from Mexico City onward.
The final Season 12 standings show da Costa champion on 186 points, 12 clear of Dennis on 174, with Günther third on 151. McLaren Formula E takes the teams title on 292 points from Jaguar TCS Racing on 266. The margin at the top is the reward for a season without a single non score, the rarest currency in a championship where contact and energy penalties can erase a weekend in a corner.
Season 13 begins in January 2027 with the Mexico City E Prix, and the grid will look different: regulation updates to the powertrain and battery deployment are expected to reset the competitive order. For now, though, the championship belongs to a driver who won it by never throwing a weekend away.
