Raúl Fernández took a commanding lights-to-flag victory in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the 12th different winner in the last 12 British MotoGP races, while championship leader Jorge Martín extended his points lead with second place.

Raúl Fernández delivered a lights-to-flag masterclass in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, converting pole position into his first win of the 2026 MotoGP season and extending one of the most remarkable streaks in motorcycle racing: a 12th different winner in the last 12 British Grand Prix races.

The Trackhouse Aprilia rider led from the moment the lights went out, managing the gap back to championship leader Jorge Martín through the high-speed Maggotts and Becketts complex and the long Hangar Straight. Martín, on the factory Aprilia, could not quite close the final half-second despite late pressure, but second place was enough to extend his championship lead as his closest rivals had a more difficult afternoon.

The result means Martín now leads the 2026 MotoGP World Championship by 34 points, a cushion that grows more significant with every round the defending champion brings the bike home in the top two. Fernández's victory also moves him firmly into the top five of the standings and underlines the depth of Aprilia's 2026 package, with four RS GP26 riders now regular podium threats.

Silverstone's long, flowing layout rewards a motorcycle that carries corner speed, and the Aprilia was perfectly suited to the demands of the Grand Prix circuit. The wide track surface allowed Fernández to run his preferred racing line and defend without needing to fight through the tighter sections where overtaking is easier.

The 2026 season has now produced seven different race winners from twelve rounds, a statistic that captures how open the competitive order has become. With eleven rounds remaining, the championship heads to MotorLand Aragón next, where Johann Zarco is set to return from injury pending medical checks, adding another variable to an already unpredictable title fight.
